United Airlines to launch new 'Basic Economy' class
11/22/2016
In a move that will not please all passengers, United has launched a new 'Basic Economy' class for 2017. Passengers will no longer be allowed to bring a large cabin bag on board. This will have to be checked in. One piece of luggage will be allowed on board, but this will have to be stored under the seats.Use of the overhead bins will not be allowed.
The reason for the move is to allow United to compete with the budget airlines, while keeping the brand higher-end.However it appears that any saving on the ticket will be wiped out by a $25 checked-in bag fee.
