If you are looking for the run-down splendour of a former imperial outpost then Pidhirtsi is the ideal location. The first known reference to a castle on this site is 1445, but today’s exotic and overpowering palatial ensemble dates back to the pomp of Polish rule in the East.

Svirzh Castle together with Olesko, Zolochiv and Pidhirtsi castles consist “A golden horseshoe” of touristic route around the castles of Lviv region.

Numerous Ukrainian towns and villages can boast of having the remnants of ancient fortifications, but only the small district centre of Zhovkva in the Lviv region has an absolute right to call its fortress "ideal". At this location, in the first half of the XVII century the only mint in the territory of Ukraine was in operation with the coins being minted from silver that belonged to the Hetman Zolkiewski’s widow.

Stare selo (Old village) is really very old as its castle is the oldest in Lviv region. First memory about this village is dated back to the XIV century and the main reason why we can still observe the castle is that it has been rebuilt many times after the enemies invasions. Now there are only ruins of the castle left.

An interesting name has the district center which lies 50 km eastward of Lviv. It seems even the citizens are divided into two parties: some believe that the name of Busk is from storks-buskiv (even the coat of arms in the town is appropriate). But others, people of vast reading know about the annalistic Buzhesk which was the part of Belzke principality and was called in the name of the river Western Bug which is flowing through the town.

The Freedom Square is the main square of Kharkov and an architectural landmark. It is the second largest city-center square in Europe and ninths in the world. It is the place of every possible events: concerts, demonstrations, fairs, meetings. From the moment of foundation (1925) till 1996 it was known as Dzerzhinskogo square.

The Mirror Stream is a small park and botanical garden located opposite the Opera House on Sumskaya Street. It was developed in 1947 to commemorate the victory over Nazi Germany during the Great Patriotic War (world war two). It now contains a water feature in the form of a fontain and an archway type structure that has very much become a symbol of the city.

In Kharkov, in the Forest Park in 1977 there was opened a beautiful and majestic memorial complex. The Complex of Glory immortalized the immortal and unforgettable feat of Soviet citizens in the fight against the Nazi invaders. The place for the memorial was chosen not accidental: at this northern city limit the Nazis executed and shot tens of thousands of Soviet soldiers, partisans and underground fighters, prisoners of war and patriots, who refused to submit to the enemy.

Taras Shevchenko came from serf peasants and was deeply linked with the people by the ardent word of a poet, by a sharp pencil of an artist expressed their thoughts and feelings, defended their interests.

Park or Sad Shevchenko is located in the center of Kharkov between Sumskaya, Rymarskaya, Klochkovskaya streets and Svobody square. It was founded in 1804-1805 by Vasiliy Karazin, the founder of prominent Kharkov University. The park is divided into two parts: landscape park and botanical garden. Moreover at the territory of the park is located the oldest Zoo in Ukraine.
