Baggage information
The weight and the number of items that you can consign to the carrier differ by travel area.
Generally, a free baggage allowance is determined by the number of items for the U.S. route, whereas other areas are based on weight.
- If you travel to the U.S. using Asiana Airlines, you can bring with you 2 bags weighing under 23 kg (Travel Class) or 32 kg (First and Business Class) free of charge. However, if you connect to another carrier at the time of departure/arrival, an excess baggage charge may be imposed, depending on the free baggage allowance of the connecting flight’s airline. Please check the allowance before departure.
- American, United, Delta, Northwest, and Air Canada normally limits the free baggage allowance for economy class passengers to 2 items weighing under 23 kg respectively. For connecting domestic flights, this allowance may differ according to each carrier’s policy. Please check the carrier concerned before leaving.
- For smooth baggage handling, please ensure that one bag does not exceed 32 kg in weight.
Hand baggage that you can take inside the cabin
Asiana Airlines places limitations on the size, weight, and number of pieces of hand-on baggage that can be brought into the cabin for the comfortable and safe travel of the passenger. We ask for your understanding on this policy.
First and Business Class - Less than 10kg (22lbs) and A+B+C= 115cm (2 pieces)
The maximum value - width : 40cm, leghth : 55cm, height : 23cm
Travel class passengers can carry one more small suitcase, handbook or laptop. Less than 10kg (22lbs) and A+B+C= 115cm (1 piece)
The maximum value - width : 40cm, leghth : 55cm, height : 23cm
Carry-on baggage can be stored on the cabin shelf or under the seat
Children information
Do I need to reserve a seat for my infant?
Children up to 2 years old (24 months), are not required to have their own seat. You must, however, inform Asiana Airlines that you will be traveling with an infant on your lap.
Only one lap child is allowed per adult. If one adult is traveling with more than one infant under 2 years of age, a seat will have to be purchased for each additional infant.
You can also choose to purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device. Infant fares may also be available.
Will I pay for my infant to travel internationally?
Yes, a child under 2 years old (24 months) is charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight.
What if my child turns 2 on the trip; will I have to buy a ticket for the return flight?
Yes, a ticket will have to be purchased for any flight on which the infant will be over 2 years old.
Can I sit in the Exit Row with my infant?
Lap children and infant seats are not allowed in an Exit Row or in the row directly in front of or directly behind an exit.
