Children information

If traveling on an adult’s lap, infants under 2 years of age fly free of charge on domestic flights within France. On international flights, infants receive a 90% fare reduction. You also have the option of booking a seat for your infant (child fare) where you may place a car seat that conforms to official regulations.
Please remember to let us know that you will be traveling with an infant when you book your trip.

Who may travel with an infant
- On all flights, an infant must be accompanied by a passenger over the age of 18.
- Exception: a passenger under 18 years of age can accompany an infant if he or she is the child´s father, mother, or legal guardian.
- Each passenger may accompany only one infant. To travel with 2 infants, a 2nd passenger is necessary.

An infant traveling on a parent's lap receives a baggage allowance of 10 kg. In addition, a folding stroller is allowed in the cabin, regardless of the destination.

Meals and services
On flights of 2 ½ hours or more, a special meal, including cookies and jars of baby food, is available for your infant. You may also request a cradle on medium-haul flights (in the Affaires cabin) and long-haul flights (in the Affaires, Alizé, Premium Voyageur, and Voyageur cabins).*
Please note: these cradles are designed for infants who weigh less than 10 kg and measure less than 70 cm. Changing tables are also available on long-haul flights.

Remember to request these items when booking your trip or purchasing your ticket, or at least 24 hours before your departure time.

* Cradles are not available in the La Première class.

- 33% on medium and long-haul flights

Pre-flight preparation
Most likely, your child will wish to bring along a small bag containing belongings. Prior to departure, consider helping pack familiar items that your child would like to have during flight, such as favorite books, stuffed animals, blanket, etc.
In addition, remember to bring a piece of candy or chewing gum to help reduce possible earaches during take-off and landing.

Unaccompanied children
* Children from 4 to 11 years of age
For flights within Metropolitan France, and to French overseas departments and territories*, children ages 4 to 11 who are flying alone are required to travel as Unaccompanied Minors (UM), and will be taken care of by Air France staff.

* Adolescents from 12 to 17 years of age who are traveling alone can also receive an Air France guardian upon request. This service is optional and a fee will be charged. Depending on the duration of the flight, the guardian fee can vary between €30 and €90 for each flight.
