United and Marriot Joins Loyalty Programs

Starting today, United Airlines and Marriot Hotel Corporation have joined together to allow customers to freely exchange loyalty member perks.
With this new trade agreement, United Global Services members of all levels can now register for Marriot Rewards Gold Elite status.
In August, the companies will start a discount program for those who transfer Marriot Rewards into Mileage Plus Reward Miles. Ed French, Senior Vice President said, "We are bringing together the world's leading hotel and airline loyalty programs to enhance the customer experience from beginning to end."
For the first time, Mileage Plus Premier members can finally exchange miles for Marriot Rewards points.

United Global Services, Premier 1K, Premier Platinum and Premier Gold MileagePlus members:
Marriott will offer Marriott Rewards Gold Elite status*, which includes guaranteed lounge access and free breakfast at JW Marriott®, Renaissance Hotels®, Marriott® Hotels and Autograph Collection® Hotels (resorts are excluded), room upgrades (available on a space-available basis), complimentary high-speed internet access at more than 3,700 hotels globally, a 25 percent point bonus on all Marriott stays, priority late check-out (when available) and Gold Elite customized offers and awards.
Premier Gold and above members can also convert MileagePlus miles into Marriott Rewards points at a one-to-one ratio, for a maximum of 50,000 miles a year. MileagePlus will also extend the miles to points transfer benefit to Premier Silver members.
Marriott Rewards Platinum Elite members:
We’ll offer Premier Silver status, including complimentary access to Economy Plus® seating at check-in (when available), complimentary Premier Upgrades on domestic flights (when available), Premier Access travel services (which include designated ticket counter check-in lines, priority security lines and priority boarding and baggage handling), one complimentary standard checked bag and 25 percent Premier bonus award miles on United flights.
Added value for members of both programs:
In addition, beginning in August, all MileagePlus and Marriott Rewards members will receive a 20 percent discount when converting Marriott Rewards points into MileagePlus miles as well as a 10 percent bonus on MileagePlus miles with Marriott Rewards travel packages."
